How to get started on TeachersPayTeachers (TPT) as a UK seller
Are you a UK educator? Already creating teaching resources for
your classroom or setting? Have you ever wondered whether you could sell them on TeachersPayTeachers and earn some extra income?
If you're based in the UK, getting started on a predominantly US marketplace can feel overwhelming.
- What can you sell?
- How do you get paid in dollars?
- Should you use US or UK spelling?
- What are US grade levels compared with UK year groups?
- What do you need to do differently when creating for American classrooms?
I've already worked through those questions so you don't
have to figure everything out from scratch.
Learn from a UK-based Top 1% TPT seller
I'm Gemma, a former museum educator and nature learning professional who started selling teaching resources online in 2019. Since then, I've learned first-hand what works when creating and selling resources for a predominantly US audience, and consistently rank among the top 1% of sellers globally on TeachersPayTeachers.
I've created this course to give you the practical, step-by-step guidance I wish I'd had when I was getting started.
In this course, you will learn how to:
- Register for your TeachersPayTeachers seller
account. - Set up your storefront.
- Understand the key differences between creating
resources for UK and US classrooms. - Create effective TPT product listings.
- Upload and publish your first resource.
- Navigate the TPT seller dashboard and make use of some of its most useful tools.
You'll go from wondering where to start to having your own TPT store and your first product live and ready for customers to find!

Why take a course instead of figuring it out yourself?
There's plenty of information about selling on TPT online, but it can be scattered, outdated or written primarily for US sellers.
This course brings the information you need to get started into one clear, practical pathway, with additional guidance specifically for UK educators.
Rather than spending hours searching for answers, you'll be able to work through the process step by step and start putting what you learn into action straight away.

What prior knowledge is needed?
You don't need any previous experience selling on TPT. However, this course focuses on the selling side rather than teaching resource or graphic design, so it's best suited to educators who are already comfortable creating their own classroom materials using software such as PowerPoint or Canva.
Do I need to invest anything to get started?
In addition to the course fee, you'll need a TeachersPayTeachers seller account. There are two seller membership options:
- Basic Seller: $29
- Premium Seller (recommended): $59.99 per year
To register for a seller account, you must have a PayPal account.
You'll also need your preferred software for creating your teaching resources and your listing images. Canva is an excellent option, but you'll need either a Canva Free or Canva Pro account. Canva for Education cannot be used to create products for commercial sale.
How will I access the course?
Once you've enrolled, you'll receive a PDF containing links to all of the course videos, which are hosted on YouTube. Supporting resources and downloads are provided through a Google Drive folder.
How long will the course take?
The videos total approximately 75 minutes, but the course is designed to be practical rather than passive. Many sections include action steps to complete as you build your store, so I'd recommend working through it at your own pace rather than trying to complete everything in one sitting.
What isn't included?
This course focuses on selling on TeachersPayTeachers rather
than teaching resource design. If you're already confident creating
high-quality educational resources, this course will show you how to turn them into products for sale.
Who is this not for?
It probably isn't the right fit if you're looking for:
- A course on designing teaching resources
- Advanced strategies for an established TPT store
- Training on graphic design or design software
