Layers of the soil cut and paste folding Earth science activity

Review the layers of the soil beneath our feet with this differentiated cut-and-paste foldable activity. This fun alternative to a worksheet allows students to order the layers in the soil profile with either descriptions or name labels. There's also a template option for students to write descriptions in the boxes.

Use this activity to support your students' rocks and soils and earth science learning. This activity is suitable for a science center, and for interactive science notebooks or lapbooks.

The templates

• Template 1: Color the soil layers, cut out the names or descriptions of the layers, match them to the pictures, glue, cut, and fold.
• Template 2: Color the soil layers, cut out the pictures of the layers with their names/descriptions, arrange them on the template, glue, cut, and fold.
• Template 3: Color the soil layers, write a short description for each layer, cut, and fold. No glue is required. Included with and without writing lines.
