Prior knowledge

Activity 1 - invertebrate group features foldout

Students create a foldout showing the features of 5 different invertebrate groups: insects, arachnids, crustaceans, mollusks, and annelids. They'll arrange 5 labels on their template, matching one to each group, before assembling their foldout.

Directions for students are included. Alternatively, have students write some features in each blank box.

Activity 2 - invertebrate group examples ‘lift the flap’ book

Students create a ‘lift the flap’ book showing animal examples from the 5 groups covered in activity 1. There are 15 animals to sort (3 for each group), and they are included in both color and in black and white.
